Software Developer

Background

profile picture

I began my career in Geosciences and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), where I developed a strong foundation in:

  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Spatial reasoning
  • Data modeling
  • Scientific problem solving

I then spent six years working as a GIS Analyst, managing large geospatial datasets, designing spatial databases, and automating analytical workflows.
While working in GIS, I increasingly moved toward scripting, automation, and database-driven solutions - which led me to formally pursue Computer Programming and Analysis.
Software engineering became a natural progression from solving analytical problems to architecting complete systems.
My background gives me three major strengths:

  • Systems Thinking

  • Experience with spatial databases and analytical modeling trained me to design systems holistically - not just write isolated features.

  • Data-Centric Development

  • I understand the importance of:

    • Data integrity
    • Schema design
    • Indexing strategies
    • Performance bottlenecks
    • Data transformation pipelines

  • Performance & Optimization Awareness

  • Working with large GIS datasets required efficient processing, memory awareness, and structured data handling - principles I now apply in backend and desktop development.

Projects

Travel Alerts

Summary:

A web app that tracks world wide travel alerts.

Problem:

Many people travel internationally every day but have little or no idea about the safety of the county they intend to visit.

solutions:

I built Travel Alert, a simple web app where travelers can easily search countries to see if there are any security challenges regarding the country they intend to visit. Travelers can bookmark countries in order to keep track alerts.

Tech Stack:
  • JavaScript JavaScript
  • Node.js Node.js
  • Express.js Express.js

Help Desk

Summary:

This web app simulates a real-world help desk environment where employees are assigned with solving customers' tech related problems

Problem:

It becomes a problem for companies with a large customer base to keep track of all customers' issues and the employees assigned to resolve them.

solutions:

Help Desk is a simple web app that allows managers to easily manage employees and track work orders. The app also keeps a record of call history and allows managers to create and print reports in PDF format.

Tech Stack:
  • c# C# / .NET Core / ASP.NET MVC / Entity Framework
  • JSON json
  • Bootstrap Bootstrap
  • SQL SQL
